School, the engine of the social lift
Overview
The school is one of the foundations of the Republic. Educating, training and emancipating the citizens of tomorrow is at the heart of its mission. However, it is struggling to meet the challenges of an education for all. France’s fall in the latest PISA rankings is the most striking illustration of this, with a drop in the level of students, particularly in basic skills, and the highest coefficient of social reproduction in Europe. While the French education system suffers from chronic under-investment and competition with private education, what are the solutions and therefore the actions to be implemented so that the public school regains its primary meaning in today’s society? What changes and upgrades should be made to all the educational professions? For what access to knowledge and what relationship to science in a digital world? It is by taking up these challenges that schools will once again become a powerful engine in the fight against the reproduction of inequalities and a social elevator, essential for the future of the country.
