Europe, Union as a strength
Overview
Faced with the health crisis and then the war in Ukraine led by Russia, Europe was confronted with numerous challenges, including energy dependence on Russia and the destabilization of world agricultural markets against a backdrop of resurgent inflation. The issues of strategic autonomy have strengthened European unity by overcoming the traditional recurring divisions between the members of the Union. The next ten years will be crucial. In the race for subsidies (Inflation Reduction Act in the United States, but also massive subsidies in China), what coordinated response can the European Union provide? Where does it stand in terms of climate, energy, digital and technological transitions? Will the European Union manage to maintain this cohesion in order to become a major geopolitical player?
