Circular economy, a model to follow
Overview
Sustainable development requires moving away from the traditional linear “extract, produce & discard” model to a circular economy, where products are designed to be better recycled, reused and repaired. This paradigm shift cannot be achieved without a profound change in lifestyles and organizations (both local, national and global).
Given the disparities in technologies and in the nature of goods, can this circular model be applied to all sectors of activity? How does the circular economy fit with other profound changes aiming at the end of hyperconsumption and greater sobriety? How can territories support this model, foster its adoption by local businesses and encourage citizens to change their lifestyle and consumption? How can globalization fit into the circular model?
