Towards a new economy of scarcity?
Session 1

July 7, 2023
12:00 - 13:00
Overview
The global environmental problems created by economic growth, climate change and the destruction of biodiversity, require us to rethink both the organization and the goals of our mode of development and to conceive the economy within the framework of planetary limits in order to minimize its negative impacts. Reducing the exploitation of natural, fossil and living resources, circular economy, recycling, prolonging the life span of objects, but also changing social norms in the direction of promoting sobriety rather than maximum consumption… Is it possible to take up this immense challenge while maintaining high levels of well-being in developed countries and allowing the development of less advanced countries?
