Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux is 52 years old and is the father of 4 children. He is married to Sabine, a
consultant. He has simultaneously followed a career as an entrepreneur, creating several thousand
jobs, been socially active in employers’ trades-unionism and has engaged in philanthropic work.
President-Founder of OMEA TELECOM (VIRGIN MOBILE)
Assistant Vice-president of the MEDEF, president of the economic centre (Taxation, Innovation,
Digital Technology, Sustainable Development).
Career: Graduate of the ESSEC and holding a DESS from Dauphine, in 1984 he enrolled in the Special
Forces (Marine Commandos) with whom he was active in Africa and Lebanon. Today he is a reserve
Frigate Captain. He then joined the L’OREAL group for 10 years where he performed numerous
duties in France and abroad, particularly as marketing manager in England, then general manager
in Poland. In 1996 he founded THE PHONE HOUSE, the first chain of shops entirely dedicated to the
mobile phone. One year later, he acquired the English company CARPHONE WAREHOUSE. In 2000,
owning 100 shops, he resold THE PHONE HOUSE to this group in London of which he became the
General Manager for 4 years, developing Phone House in Europe.
In 2004 he founded OMEA TELECOM, which launched BREIZH MOBILE, the first alternative mobile
operator (MVNO). In 2006 he persuaded the VIRGIN group to invest in this project and launched
VIRGIN MOBILE. In 2008 OMEA bought back Télé 2 mobile. In 2013 OMEA TELECOM, with 4 brands
and almost 1.7 million customers, had a turnover of about €500M and generated almost 1000
direct or indirect jobs.
Other activities: he is a director of Peugot SA and Parrot and has been a director or investor in
the following businesses: IMS, Seloger.com, Micromania, Budget Télécom and Nocibé. In 2009 he
created, with other entrepreneurs, ISAI, an investment fund of €70M for French start-up internet
and mobile companies.
Voluntary activities: from 2003 to 2008 he was vice-president, then president of Croissance
Plus, the association of fast-growing businesses. He was a member of the Conseil de France
Investissement. He was vice-president, then president, of the Unedic (National Professional
Union for Employment in Industry and Trade) from 2008 to 2012 for the MEDEF (Movement of
French Enterprises). Since July 2013 he has been assistant vice-president and treasurer of the
MEDEF. He created Alternative Mobile, an association of alternative operators over whom he presided
from 2007 to 2009. He is vice-president of the Fédération Français des Télécoms. Finally, with his
wife, he founded a charitable foundation, the ARAOK Foundation (“forward” in Breton), under the
aegis of the Fondation de France which financially supports humanitarian associations.
