James MANYIKA

Senior Partner, Director - McKinsey & Company, McKinsey Global Institute

James Manyika is a Senior Partner at McKinsey and Director of McKinsey Global Institute, McKinsey. James is also a member of the Shareholder Council (McKinsey’s Board of Directors). Based in Silicon Valley for 20 years, he advises many of the world’s leading technology companies and their chief executives. James has led research on technology and the economy, growth and productivity, competitiveness and labor markets. He has published a book on AI and Robotics and academic and business papers and reports and recently co-authored the book No Ordinary Disruption.

James was appointed by President Obama as Vice Chair of the Global Development Council at the White House (2012-present). Appointments by US Commerce Secretaries include, Digital Economy Board of Advisors (2016), National Innovation Advisory Board (2011). He is on the boards of the Council on Foreign Relations, Aspen Institute, Oxford Internet Institute, MIT’s Initiative on the Digital Economy, UC Berkeley’s School of Information, Harvard’s Hutchins Center, including the Du Bois Institute for African and African-American Research, the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the American University in Cairo. James is a non-resident Senior Fellow of Brookings Institution and a member of the Bretton Woods Committee. James was on the Engineering Faculty at Oxford University, a member of Robotics Research Lab, a Fellow of Balliol College. A Rhodes Scholar James holds DPhil. MSc. MA. from Oxford in Robotics, Maths and Computer Science.
