Fen Osler HAMPSON

Fen Osler Hampson is Distinguished Fellow and Director of the Global Security & Politics Program at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). Most recently, he served as director of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) where he is concurrently Chancellor’s Professor at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Professor Hampson is the co-director of the Global Commission on Internet Governance (GCIG). The Commission just delivered its final report and recommendations at the OECD Ministerial in Cancun, Mexico (www.ourinternet.org). Professor Hampson holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University where he also received his A.M. degree (both with distinction). He also holds an MSc. (Econ.) degree (with distinction) from the London School of Economics and a B.A. (Hon.) from the University of Toronto. He is the author or co-author of 11 books and editor or co-editor of 27 other volumes. In addition, he has written more than 100 articles and book chapters on international affairs. His most recent book is Look Who’s Watching: Surveillance, Treachery and Trust Online (with Eric Jardine).  He is a frequent commentator and contributor in the national and international media. His articles have appeared in The Washington Post, The Globe and Mail, Foreign Policy Magazine, Foreign Affairs, the National Post, iPolitics and elsewhere. He is a frequent commentator on the CBC, CTV, and Global news networks.
