Eric Lombard joined the Group Management Committee (GMC) on 28 October 2013 and supervises the French capital markets activity. He is Chief Executive Officer of Generali France. After beginning his career at Paribas in 1981, Eric Lombard served on Ministerial Cabinets from 1989 to 1993, notably under Michel Sapin in the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
In April 1993, he joined Paribas, where he headed up Mergers & Acquisitions in the banking and insurance sectors. He then managed the Financial Institutions Group and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Department from 1997 to 1999.
He was appointed Head of the Financial Institutions Group of BNP Paribas in September 1999 and a member of the General Management Committee of BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking, before taking charge of Business and Institutional Client Relations in September 2002.
In 2004, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Assurance (which became BNP Paribas Cardif in 2011), BNP Paribas’s life and casualty insurance subsidiary. He was appointed Chairman and CEO of BNP Paribas Assurance in 2006, then joined the Executive Committee of the BNP Paribas Group in 2011. Eric Lombard is a graduate of the HEC Management School.
