The Multi-Career Worker

Session 11

We know that our working lives are getting longer. There are opportunities and mishaps, periods of intense activity and downtime or training, they can span several countries. Our careers can alternate between or overlap titles like employee, shareholder, executive director and board member. High-profile CEO is inevitably international, but so are directors of a mid-cap company, students, business creators and buyers as well as lots of specialised technicians and front-line supervisors. We should add that employees can be creators or buyers or a creator can become an employee/shareholder. Companies have an interest and a responsibility in allowing these changes to happen, along with the inevitable training required and the diverse range of pay-package formats that are implied. The gamut that spans attracting talent to developing it on the inside is a determining factor of competitiveness, along with the funding needed for expansion and the careers to develop.

How to incorporate these changes and their variations to go as far as the so-called Open Talent model? How to prepare “workers” and their environment to allow more diversity and agility in a world that changes faster and demands more no matter how large or small your company is?
