– Head of Department, Petroleum Directorate, French Ministry of Industrial Redeployment and Foreign Trade (1984-1985).
– Attached to the Prime Minister as Deputy Secretary-General of the Interministerial Committee for European Economic Cooperation (1985-1990).
– Minister-Counsellor, French Embassy in Rome (1990-1992).
– Deputy Permanent Representative of France to the European Communities in Brussels (1992-1997).
– Head of the European Cooperation Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (January to May 1997).
– Director of the Private Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (1997- 2002).
