Peter RICKETTS

Bio

Peter was a British diplomat for 40 years. Among the posts he held were Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee (2000), Permanent Representative to NATO (2003-6), Head of the British Diplomatic Service (2006-2010), National Security Adviser 10 Downing St (2010-12) and Ambassador to France (2012-16). Peter is now a crossbench (non-political) member of the Lords, a non-executive Director of Engie and Getlink, and author of Hard Choices: the making and unmaking of global Britain (2022). He is a regular commentator on foreign policy and defence issues, and Vice-Chairman of the Royal United Services Institute, London.
