Patrick POUYANNÉ

Bio

A graduate of the École Polytechnique and a Chief Engineer in the Corps des Mines, Mr. Pouyanné held various positions in the administration of the Ministry of Industry and in ministerial cabinets from 1989 to 1996 (technical advisor for the Environment and Industry to Prime Minister Edouard Balladur from 1993 to 1995, chief of staff to the Minister of Information Technology and Space, François Fillon, from 1995 to 1996). In January 1997, he joined TotalEnergies in the Exploration-Production division as General Secretary in Angola. In 1999, he became the Company's representative in Qatar and Managing Director of the Exploration-Production subsidiary in Qatar. In August 2002, he was appointed Director of Finance, Economics and IT for Exploration-Production. In January 2006, he became Director of Strategy, Growth and Research for Exploration-Production and a member of the Company's Executive Committee in May 2006. In March 2011, Mr. Pouyanné was appointed Executive Vice President, Chemicals and Executive Vice President, Petrochemicals. In January 2012, he was appointed Executive Vice President, Refining and Chemicals and a member of the Company's Executive Committee. On October 22, 2014, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of TOTAL S.A. and Chairman of the Company's Executive Committee. On May 29, 2015, he was appointed by the General Shareholders' Meeting as a Director for a three-year term. The Board of Directors appointed him Chairman of the Board of Directors as of December 19, 2015. Mr. Pouyanné thus becomes the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Following the renewal of Mr. Pouyanné's term of office as Director by the General Shareholders' Meeting of June 1, 2018, and then by the General Shareholders' Meeting of May 28, 2021 for a term of three years, the Board of Directors reappointed Mr. Pouyanné as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for a term equal to his term of office as Director. Mr. Pouyanné is thus Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies SE. Mr. Pouyanné has also been Chairman of the United Way - Alliance for Education since June 2018, having accepted this position as Chairman and CEO of the Company. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Capgemini (since May 2017), the Board of Directors of Ecole Polytechnique (since September 2018), the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (since September 2019) and the Association Française des Entreprises Privées (since 2014), the Institut du Monde Arabe (since 2017) and the Fondation La France s'engage (since 2017). He is a member of the Board of Directors of Cap Gemini, AFEP, Institut du Monde Arabe, Ecole Polytechnique and Institut Polytechnique de Paris. Patrick Pouyanné is also Chairman of the Alliance pour l'éducation, a French association fighting against school dropouts. He is a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
