Rethinking agriculture

Session 5 Amphi 1 July 8, 2022 15:45 - 16:45

Overview

The successive health and climatic crises and the return of war to Europe are increasing food insecurity and questioning our ability to meet the food needs of populations. This environment, which has become more uncertain, has also undergone major changes: technological innovation in digital technology and the development of varieties that are resistant to water stress and disease, intensification of international trade in food products, and the importance of large multinational groups. Agricultural policies implemented at the national and regional levels, and international cooperation, do not seem to be able to find solutions that meet demand while accommodating producers and intermediate constraints – market, logistics, conservation.
How can we rethink agriculture, from producer to consumer, to improve global food security and meet individual expectations? Is a new agriculture imperative, or is it enough to adapt?
