Bio


Holds a PhD in Environment and Development from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) and is researcher and project coordinator at the Specialists Center for Environmental Management; she also graduated from the Leadership in Environment and Development (LEAD) Advanced Studies Program of The College of Mexico.

She has served as Director of Environmental Education in the Secretariat of the Environment of the Government of the then Federal District, as well as Adviser to the Presidency of the also then National Institute of Ecology; she was researcher in the area of Natural Sciences of the Regional Museum of the UABC and Coordinator of the Master Degree in Environmental Education at the National Pedagogical University.

She was editor of the magazine “Investigación ambiental. Ciencia y Política Pública” and in addition to her teaching participation in the UABC, she has collaborated in the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the Ibero-American University and the University of Colima.

She has coordinated local, regional and international projects with the Metropolitan Environmental Commission, the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources, the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of the Biodiversity, the National Forestry Commission, the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas, the European Commission, the United Nations Development Program, the World Wildlife Fund, The Nature Conservancy, among other institutions.

As of December 2018, she took office as the Secretary of the Environment of the Government of Mexico City, appointed by the Chief of Government Claudia Sheinbaum.
