Bio
A professional skipper for over twenty years, Christopher Pratt has charted a remarkable course in the demanding world of ocean racing thanks to his unwavering determination. Driven by his childhood dreams - he was inspired to take up ocean racing when Florence Arthaud won the Route du Rhum on Pierre 1er in 1990 - Christopher has never envisaged anything other than sailing, and at the highest level. French and European champion and runner-up in the dinghy class at just 18, the Marseille-based Franco-British quickly established himself on the international scene as an essential crew member. In the course of his sporting career, he has taken part in legendary races such as the Solitaire du Figaro, the Tour de France à la Voile, the Transat Jacques Vabre, the Route du Rhum and The Ocean Race.
Mastering the art of sailing both single-handed and with a crew, he first made a name for himself with two victories in the crewed Tour de France, then on the king of supports: the Figaro. In just two years, he won two major competitions and the Bizuth ranking in the legendary Solitaire. He entered the big leagues as the youngest competitor in the 2010 Route du Rhum in an IMOCA (the Vendée Globe boats), where he put in a remarkable performance.
He went on to win 4 bronze medals in the Transat Jacques Vabre and a silver medal in The Ocean Race. Working with some of the world's greatest skippers, including Le Cléac'h, Beyou and Peyron, Christopher is renowned for his tenacity and expertise in strategic routing, as well as for his kindness. Recognized as one of the best skippers of his generation, he has twice been chosen as replacement skipper for the Vendée Globe (Banque Populaire 2012, Charal 2020). Recently, he was skipper number 2 of Team Maxime Sorel V&B - Monbana - Mayenne, and also selected as crew by Spindrift Sails of Change for the Jules Verne Trophy and the North Atlantic record attempt. In 2023, Christopher acquired an OCEAN FIFTY with the aim of winning the Route du Rhum 2026.
Beyond his sporting achievements, Christopher Pratt is an ambitious entrepreneur. Founder of MARSAIL in 2008, he combines his passion for psychosociology with his expertise in uncertain environments to transcend the boundaries between ocean challenges and corporate operational issues. Still involved in research into decision-making and motivation in extreme environments, Christopher is committed to transferring his offshore expertise.
