Redefining the social contract, the modern corporation and its responsabilities
Overview
Since the 2000s, the corporate sector has increasingly come to be seen as the main body organizing the day-to-day life of citizens, no doubt as a mirror effect of the perceived disengagement of the State as a pillar and landmark of society. This spectacular transformation of the company in just a few decades has given birth to a new notion, that of the modern corporation, with an expanded role and missions for society, in line with the growing expectations of all its stakeholders. Modern companies are now associated with social and environmental responsibilities that go far beyond their economic perimeters. Social justice objectives and participation in the environmental transition are now associated with them. How should we approach this new dimension to the role of companies? Does the corporate social contract need to be redefined?
