Bio

Habiba DJEBBARI is Professor of Economics at Aix-Marseille University, Fellow of the Econometric Society and of the Institute for Labor Studies. She received her PhD in Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2004. She has been the director of the Growth and Development Axis at Aix Marseille Sciences Economique (AMSE) since 2018 and served as the chair of the steering committee of the Econometrics Society Africa Region in 2018-2019. Her early career research focuses on causal identification issues in econometrics. She continues to contribute to the analysis of the role of social interactions in individual choices from a methodological perspective. She also applies her skills to the study of economic problems faced by the least developed countries, particularly in Africa, by contributing to the development of the microeconomic approach to the evaluation of development projects and policies. More recently, she is interested in how environmental problems constrain development and are in turn affected by the level of development. Her publications include Annual Review of Economics (2020), Economic Development and Cultural Change (2020), Journal of Econometrics (2008, 2009), Journal of Applied Econometrics (2012) and Lancet Global Health (2015).
