Transforming our living conditions
Overview
Where will we live tomorrow? And above all how and under what conditions? Around 54% of the world’s population lives in urban areas today and almost 70% are expected to do so by 2050. Urban space has become the dominant environment for human beings, offering services, cultural offerings and economic opportunities, but at the same time generating pollution, loss of biodiversity, stress and anxiety. Revealed or accelerated by the health crisis, several trends are emerging, facilitated by digital technology: the desire to live in cities on a human scale, the new attractiveness of territories, but also the rediscovery of the virtues of nature in an urban environment.
All this leads us to rethink the living environments in which we evolve. What will the city of tomorrow be like? How can we think of a functional and inclusive urbanisation that respects both individuals and nature? How can we support territories that are experimenting with innovative local solutions?
