Reinstalling intermediary bodies in their rightful place back
Overview
Intermediary bodies are an indispensable link with civil society. Trade unions, political parties, associations, economic, social and environmental councils, consular chambers, commercial tribunals, industrial tribunals… allow the existence of a representation of economic and social interests, alongside the traditional political representation based on universal suffrage. They constitute channels for expressing the will of the people, an intermediary between the people and the political power, and are therefore one of the essential links of democracy via claims, proposals, and interpellations. In this respect, the weakness of intermediary bodies can be a factor of disillusionment for citizens who struggle to make their voices heard and do not feel represented.
In a context of social tensions and successive crises (health, social, economic, political), and of permanent mutation (social transformations, technological evolution), one can wonder about the role played by intermediary bodies.
