Bio
Graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and Law from Panthéon-Assas (Paris II), Sophie Nerbonne started as a legal officer in SODEXHO before arriving at the CNIL as a legal officer for financial services. She became Co-Director of Legal Affairs, Technical Experts and International Affairs at the CNIL. She followed very closely European and International issues and events during the CNIL’s role as Chair of the Article 29 Working Party before 2010. Appointed as a professional expert by the European Commission for credit history files, she is a well known expert in economic professional circles. She launched the Directorate of the Department for Compliance in 2014, reflecting the orientation of the CNIL’s structure to be a regulator more involved in accompanying professionals with a large line of regulatory tools that aimed at simplifying administrative formalities and adding legal certainty and accountability in the respect of citizens’ data protection rights.
With the application of GDPR, she is now dedicated to the strategy of economic co regulation.
