Bio
Michel Frédeau is a Managing Director and Senior Partner at BCG.
He leads BCG’s Climate and Environment impact area globally and is a member of BCG’s Social Impact Practice leadership team. In his role, Michel leads the firm's efforts to positively impact climate and the environment with corporations, investors, governments, and the social sector globally. Michel is also in charge of several flagship programs related to the topic.
These include:
• BCG's collaboration with the World Economic Forum on the state of global climate action and the net-zero challenge
• BCG's strategic support for the COP26 unit, with a focus on non-state actors (i.e., business and industry, across sectors)
• Engagement with a climate action initiative to help companies understand how to overcome barriers to decarbonizing their operations and value chains
• Strategic support for the Ministry of a major European country, to develop a comprehensive and concrete vision of what life will look like in 2050 if we successfully transition to a net-zero carbon economy – this will inform a national narrative to foster the ecological transition and drive change management a country level
• Define a strategy for BCG to meaningfully contribute to the decarbonization of the aviation sector, both through client work as well as our own actions and investments Since joining BCG in 1985, Michel has worked extensively with companies in the gas, oil, power, and renewables on a broad range of strategic, organizational, and operational issues. He has deep experience in the management of large programs in oil and gas, electricity, and aerospace.
He also has lead numerous engagements with insurance clients. Michel is a graduate of the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Économique and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
