Étienne de l’Estoile
26 y.o., “Memories for Tomorrow”
A few pages from the life of a man across two centuries. Four crises on the spot, full of uncertainties and torments. From 1943 to 2021, he seeks the words to understand, resist, invent. Four texts that condense his fears, his hopes and his illusions, all that is essential to the existence of human beings, tireless machines to endure and to rebuild.
Etienne de l’Estoile is a doctoral student in urban and financial economics at the University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne, and is currently working on a Cifre thesis at the Banque de France.
Benoit Piveteau
25 y.o., “Resisting today to invent tomorrow – The great disconnection”
In 2050, while automation and the democratisation of digital technologies have increased social inequalities, a new global phenomenon is upsetting the established system.
Benoit Piveteau is a graduate engineer from Arts et Métiers ParisTech and a data scientist at CNP Assurances.
Naelle Verniest
23 y.o., “A Tragedy of the Horizon”
This operetta features a scientific demonstration. An epidemiologist illustrates the similarities between the reactions of Homo Oeconomicus to the Covid pandemic and to the climate crisis today. The operetta takes place in three acts: first wave, state of emergency, collective immunity?
Naelle Verniest graduated from Sciences Po in Economics and Public Policy and is a monetary policy analyst at the Banque de France.

Each year former participants apply again to La Parole aux 18-28. In order to open up the scheme to as many young people as possible and to create links between the different promotions, the Cercle des économistes has created the Ambassadors’ Club. This Club enables 20 former participants, selected on the same criteria as the other candidates, to attend the Rencontres Economiques again.
