Bringing culture back to the forefront
Overview
The cultural sectors have paid a high price for the Covid-19 crisis. Beyond the interruption of activity, the actors in these sectors experienced the crisis as a moment of questioning their status and their economic models. It became clear that the role played by events, tourism and international trade had to be questioned. Similarly, the question of digital technology, which was already present before the crisis, was raised in new terms: are there sustainable economic models for capturing shows, virtual tours of museums, etc.? How does it complement the “face-to-face” approach? Can digital technology be a tool for democratising culture? Finally, the crisis has raised the question of territories in renewed terms. We have taken the measure of the importance of the irrigation of territories, and their place in the definition of cultural policies.
