Masako EGAWA
Professor - Hitotsubashi University
Masako Egawa is Professor, Graduate School of Business Administration, Hitotsubashi University. Her field of research is corporate governance. She currently serves on the boards of Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc., Asahi Glass Co., Ltd., and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. as independent director.
From 2009 through 2015, Dr. Egawa served as Executive Vice President of The University of Tokyo, as the first female EVP in its 140-year history, and oversaw international affairs, public relations, alumni relations and development. From 2001 through 2009, she served as founding Executive Director of the Research Center of Harvard Business School. Prior to joining Harvard, she worked in the investment banking industry for 15 years in New York and Tokyo, advising clients on M&A and capital raising.
Dr. Egawa received a B.A. in international relations from the University of Tokyo, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and a Ph.D. in management from Hitotsubashi University.
She has served on the Tax Council, the Financial System Council, the Self-Governing Board of Japan Securities Dealers Association, and Global Agenda Council of World Economic Forum, among others.
