Sports and Culture: What Role in the Metamorphosis of our Societies?

Culture and sport can both be defined as the modern expression of living traditions and as legacy of our past. A social phenomenon with national and international stakes, sport has however evolved far beyond this traditional aspect. Its rise as both a popular entertainment and leisure has turned sport-related events into true cultural celebrations, bringing together business, passion and politics. When we look at the importance of sports in international relations, it seems that a peaceful dialogue both between and within nations is attainable. The spectacular Korean rapprochement that took place during the last Olympic Games is testament to the power sports has in gathering and pacifying relationships between different individuals.
