Former British Ambassador to France

Sir Peter Ricketts completed a 40 year career in the British Diplomatic Service as  Ambassador to France from 2012 until January 2016.  Before that, he was the UK’s first National Security Adviser 2010-2012 and Permanent Undersecretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service 2006-10. His earlier career was heavily concerned with the crises in the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, as the Chairman of the UK’s Joint Intelligence Committee, Political Director at the FCO and Ambassador to NATO. He has previously served in France, as Economic and Finance Counsellor in the 1990s. He will shortly become a Non-Executive Director of the Engie Group.
